Vayus, or internal winds, are currents of internal energies that circulate in all human beings. In a natural flow, the Vayus carries and moves the energy controlling organic functions of the body, such as breathing, digestion, etc. – yet besides the physiological functions, the Vayus also awakens psychic aspects. They stimulate the chakras, our vital centers, and awaken consciousness. Mudras, pranayama, and asana connect directly to pranic energy by balancing the 5 elements in the body and improving the function of the 5 Prana Vayus.
The maintenance of the Vayus is essential, since the flow of energy in the body must always be clean, fluid and constant. Otherwise, the energies become blocked and may manifest as physical illnesses. In this special class, we will explore the benefits of the 5 Prana Vayu mudras and learn to feel the Vayus to keep our balance. Asana practice is sequenced to focus on harmonizing the flow of energy with pranayama that corresponds to the Vayu to heal the body.
