Prana Flow is the vinyasa style of postural yoga developed by Shiva Rea from the Mysore tradition of Krishnamacharya. A Prana flow class is a journey through asanas, feeling states (bhavana), mudras, mantras and intelligent vinyasa sequences that encompass grace and strength.

In this class, Ameriga will guide you into the deep and vivid bodily sensations through an intelligently sequenced flow of hip-openers and backbends leading to Eka Pada Rajakapotasana (King Pigeon). Before the flow, she will break down the anatomical components of the peak pose, so students can approach it effectively and safely.

Ameriga’s Bio

Ameriga’s classes are a blend of Ashtanga elements fused into a Mandala Vinyasa flow style practice, with emphasis on intentional movements, playfulness, breathe work, somatic embodiment and compassionate adjustments. Her flows are intelligently sequenced to challenge the practitioners and bring them into a place of exploration of their potential. She will offer several variations for most poses, allowing modifications and personal contributions, with the idea that she is a guide, but the real teacher is the one practicing on the mat.

Ameriga has collected over 2000 hrs of education in Vinyasa Flow yoga (300 hrs with Shiva Rea, Simon Park and Meghan Currie), Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga (with Lino Miele, Gregor Maehle and Kamal Singh), Yin Yoga (with Jo Phee), Pranavashya Yoga (with Vinay Kumar in Mysore). Ameriga studied Oriental Languages and cultures at the University, has a Masters degree in Anthropology, and is an avid student of yoga philosophy, Tibetan Buddhism and Sanskrit.

Backbends Workshop : We begin this special class by looking at the anatomy of backbends and in particular at the hips, spine and shoulder joints and how they relate to each other in a backbend.  After warming up, through partner work and with the use of props we explore increasingly complex backbends. All levels welcome.

March 23rd – 11:00am – 1:00pm  (2hrs)- 180 Dhs
Inversions Workshop : This is a 2 hr workshop on headstand, forearm balance and handstand. After an anatomical introduction and warming up, this workshop will involve partner work to get into different inversions and explore different transitions. The workshop is for all levels: we begin with more simple inverted asanas and progress along to more complex ones leaving the option open for everybody to work on what they prefer to focus.
